Ascribed to a cultural movement of any timeperiod is not a specific costume but a broad range of fashion symbolic of the "message" of the cultural movement. As the dead-of-mind-and-spirit of the classless 1950s/1960s Elvis Presley/Marilyn Monroe/The Beatles/My Mother the Car/ Gilligan's Island/Petticoat Junction/Green Acres/Laugh-In/The Munsters/ Lost in Space/Hogan's Heroes/The Addam's Family/The Beverly Hillbillies/ Get Smart/The Flying Nun/I Dream of Jeannie/My Favorite Martian/Bewitched/ The Monkees/McHale's Navy/Gomer Pyle/F-Troop/Hee-Haw/Woodstock imbecile generation disintegrated into oblivion, all forms of artistic expression - from film to photography, television to music - exploded with the never-before-experienced intellectual energy borne of 1970s philosophical awakening. Clothing, endued with Art-Deco-style silk and satin, evoked the glamor of film and photography of the 1920s and 1930s; but, added to the fashion splendor is color, infusing the artistic composition with a passion and emotion absent in other timeperiods.
